LBG Lyon only has two members. It doesn’t have enough funds nor does it have enough people. They announce a Summer Course, hoping to be able to pull it through but it is not accepted by the External Events Committe of BEST. Nobody attends the General Meetings.
Autumn 2009
Three people come back in Lyon from Erasmus in Turin where they had met BEST. They are ready to do no matter what to save the LBG and they start recruiting immediately. Despite the small team, they are determined enough to plan a new Spring Course. Lacking experience, they call trainers to learn as much as possible. Things finally start looking up for LBG Lyon, after so many problems encountered. The group becomes bigger and bigger, new motivated members keep showing up, and the LBG seems to be back on track!
Winter 2010
BEST Lyon starts negociating with its University, in order to establish good relations and it also gets the partnerships needed for organizing their Spring Course. So this time things don’t look bad at all and the LBG is recovering. Many people are interested and apply to its Course and BEST Lyon has one of the biggest numbers of applications!

The Spring Course “You’re an engineer, you’re a manager, you’re the BEST” takes place successfully. In spite of the crisis situation with the volcano, BESTies from Lyon succeed in keeping their Spirit and partycipants aren’t disappointed for a moment.
Finally, the moment of truth arrives… GA Warsaw 2010. If in 2009 nobody from the group shows up, this time BEST Lyon is not only there but it also convinces everybody of what it has become capable of in the last year and how the situation has improved. It’s no longer facing the problems it did and it has started over, it has risen from scratch, ready to take up new challenges. If in 2009 there are only two members, this time there are more than 15 and even though in 2009 everything seems lost, in 2010 Lyon proves the contrary. It is not excluded after the voting session and it gets a second chance. So that is why…
LBG Lyon wants to host a Cultural Exchange, a new great Course, a Motivational Weekend and last but not least, a Local Engineering Competition and the French Engineering Competition. Even though the members are not the same as in the previous years, LBG Lyon learnt from the mistakes made before and has already changed, ready to motivate newbies as much as possible and do a flawless Knowledge Transfer. And obviously, it wants to become full again and pass on the BEST Spirit to other and other generations.
This is a story that shows that we can do anything, if we want it bad enough. And LBG Lyon did. We would like to express our gratitude to LBG Grenoble, who were our Nurse, and helped us at every point of doubt. Thanks!
